KS1, KS2 and SATs tuition in Reading, built on early foundations

Learn to Excel teaches KS1, KS2 and SATs in Reading, in English and maths. Teaching runs in small groups and one-to-one, in person at our Reading centre and online. Sessions run Monday to Wednesday, 4pm to 8pm, and Saturday, 10am to 3pm. Every tutor holds an enhanced DBS certificate.

Foundations first, not a single test

Early tuition builds the understanding a child uses at every later stage, not just the score on one SATs paper. A child who grasps place value or how a sentence works at seven carries that understanding into GCSE and beyond. A child drilled only on a Year 6 paper carries a memorised pattern instead, one that breaks on an unfamiliar question. This is where our promise of strong foundations for life is most literal: KS1 and KS2 are the years the foundation gets laid, not just tested.

Who teaches KS1, KS2 and SATs English

Mrs Anindita Chatterjee leads much of our English teaching at this stage. She has ten years' experience teaching English and is a current AQA Examiner for English. She specialises in autism awareness and in supporting children with additional needs, including ADHD and dyslexia. She is also a paediatric first-aider.

Small groups and one-to-one, in person and online

Small group sessions suit a child who benefits from working alongside peers at a similar level. One-to-one sessions suit a child who needs the pace or focus adjusted specifically to them. Both formats run in person at our Reading centre and online for families who prefer to join remotely. Parents choose the format that fits their child and their week.

How KS2 foundations connect to the 11-plus

KS2 foundations feed directly into 11-plus preparation for families who choose that route. Reading School and Kendrick School both draw on the same understanding we build at KS1 and KS2: reasoning, reading comprehension and number sense, not memorised answers. Not every child needs to sit the 11-plus. We do not push families toward it.
