A Reading tutoring centre built on foundations, not shortcuts

Learn to Excel is a tutoring centre in west Reading, teaching children from KS1 to A-level. We have taught in Reading since 2014, we are registered with Ofsted, and we specialise in preparing children for 11-plus entry to Reading School and Kendrick School.

What we believe

Our aim is to build a strong foundation for life, not just a result on one exam day. Children who understand a subject become independent, disciplined learners who can handle whatever exam comes next. Children who are only drilled for a single paper do not. So we teach the concept first and the exam technique second, in small groups and one-to-one.

It also means we are honest with families. If we do not think tuition is right for a child yet, or if a grammar school is realistically out of reach because of where a family lives, we say so. That honesty is the whole point of how we work.

Registered and accountable

We are registered on the Ofsted Voluntary Childcare Register (URN 2662849), and Learn to Excel Reading Limited is a registered company (number 09205557). Every tutor holds an enhanced DBS certificate. Because we are Ofsted registered, eligible families can pay using Tax-Free Childcare.
