GCSE tuition in Reading, from a tutor who marks the real papers

Learn to Excel teaches GCSE English, maths, physics, chemistry and biology in Reading. We cover the AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC Eduqas and IGCSE exam boards, with IB available at higher levels. Concept-first teaching, not drill-and-repeat

Our approach builds understanding of a method before repetition of it. A student who has only drilled past questions can answer a familiar one and freeze on an unfamiliar one. Concept-first teaching aims to build a student who can reason through a new question on the day, rather than pattern-match to a memorised type. This matters most at GCSE, where exam boards vary a question's wording specifically to test understanding rather than recall.

A tutor who marks the real exam papers

Mrs Anindita Chatterjee is an AQA Examiner for English and has taught for ten years. Marking real GCSE scripts gives her direct knowledge of what actually earns marks on a mark scheme, not just what sounds right. She also specialises in supporting children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia, and is a paediatric first-aider. We do not turn this into a numbers claim. We use it to teach exam technique that is grounded in how AQA English papers are actually marked.

We teach GCSE English, maths, physics, chemistry and biology. Reading schools set AQA, OCR, Edexcel or WJEC Eduqas, depending on the subject and the school, and we prepare students for all four boards. Small groups and one-to-one, in person and online

Small group sessions suit a student who benefits from working alongside peers at a similar level. One-to-one sessions suit a student who needs the pace or focus adjusted specifically to them, which is often the better fit for GCSE catch-up. Both formats run in person at our Reading centre and online for families who prefer to join remotely. Parents choose the format that fits their child and their week.
